 TherHappy Therapy Services ‘Ohana Skilled Day Program is a carefully specialized home education program that has been created to support the dually unique academic and therapeutic needs of Children with Special Needs.  The ‘Ohana Skilled Day Program is a parent- directed educational option that allows parents and families the ability to partner with our high caliber team of clinical specialists in order to formulate a customized educational plan to reach (and exceed!) their child’s unique and specific goals.   

 While the Children who attend our program span a wide array of Exceptionalities that includes children who are both gifted and children with disabilities including:   intellectual disabilities; autism spectrum disorder; speech impairment; language impairment; orthopedic impairment; other health impairment; traumatic brain injury; visual impairment; emotional or behavioral disability; a specific learning disability that may include dyslexia, dy(scalculia, or developmental aphasia/ apraxia; students who are deaf or hard of hearing or dual sensory impaired....

Each child’s individually curated ‘Ohana Skilled Day Program is formulated in a sequential progression that is customized to begin at the child’s current developmental level.  This level is determined based on evaluations completed via standardized assessments performed by our team of pediatric physical, occupational, and speech/ language therapy providers who are specialists in their field!  Next, TherHappy’s team of skilled therapy providers and educators collaborate with parents to create customized educational plans to reach their child’s specific goals.  These plans are created to specifically facilitate a path of advancement through a sequence, utilizing both developmentally and clinically appropriate methods at rates of instruction to achieve the goal of their child’s greatest success in learning and life. 

The ‘Ohana Skilled Day Program is offered at intervals across the course of each week, with days and times customizable to best suit each child and family’s needs and circumstances.  Throughout the course of every day, each child receives a rotation of intentionally scheduled academic instruction, separated by outings to their skilled therapy sessions.  

While academic instruction and skilled therapies are separate services, TherHappy’s team of skilled professionals maintain seamless communication in order to best carryover skilled therapy procedures  across the doorway and into the classroom.

A broad expanse of academic curricula, courses, and activities are used to enrich each child’s learning opportunities, with curriculum selection determined based on the varying needs of each small grouping of children at similar academic levels.  

Upon completion of each Skilled Day Program segment, parents are provided with a log of the educational activities that their child participated in, as well as a portfolio containing samples of worksheets, workbooks, creative materials, and writings that best represent their child’s  progress along that developmentally appropriate continuum of educational instruction.  

Our certified  teachers also complete annual evaluations using either a nationally normed student achievement test and/ or  standardized clinical  assessments  documenting the child’s demonstration of educational progress at a level commensurate with their level of developmental ability.

The ‘Ohana Skilled Day Program at TherHappy Therapy Services also embraces the resources available at our farm- based location for the purposes of learning segments in the areas of social skills, life skills, executive functioning skills, and career education.  At the earliest of levels, we offer hands- on exploratory learning designed to inspire children with a broad range of interests and occupations beginning in areas of animal care and keeping, farming/ gardening, cooking,arts, music, and daily life skills.  Across the developmental continuum, children may participate in higher levels of experiential learning delving into  job-preparatory training that prepares them for entry into an occupation, by participating in the myriad of practical work applications that take place at our farm- based location.  Here, we hold a State of Florida

Certificate of Exemption from Health Care Clinic Licensure and meet all applicable state and local health, safety, and welfare laws, codes, and rules, including those pertaining to fire and building safety.

TherHappy’s ‘Ohana Skilled Day Program is pleased to offer a myriad of specially designed instruction as well as related services in order to capture each child’s learning style and achieve their greatest educational benefit!  

Several customizable components of the Skilled Day Program include:  developmentally appropriate academic services; diagnostic and evaluation services;  physical and occupational therapy; speech and language pathology services; orientation and mobility training; assistive technology devices, and other specialized equipment.  

These components are assessed via clinical assessment and may be provided to children via a variety of funding sources to include: Florida Medicaid; Children’s Medical Services; Step Up for Students Scholarship; Private Insurance; and Grant Funding to name a few. Parents decide which funding source(s) to use for their child to receive the services that best meet their child’s overarching plan.
